The Professional Fellowship scheme aims to support the professional development of key practitioners in Fleming Fund countries, in both human health and animal health sectors, who play an important role in implementing AMR and AMU surveillance. The scheme will provide training, coaching and mentoring to improve Fellows' skills and leadership capacity in gathering quality AMR diagnostic data, AMR and AMU data collection and management, analysis and use of surveillance results.

Beneficiary Institutions & Fellowships:
AMR Advisory Fellowship – Human Health at Medical Services Administration
- To strengthen capability to critically review evidence and advise on policies and programmes on AMR/AMC/AMU in the context of up-to-date information generated through surveillance and research
- To develop leadership in AMR epidemiology and provision of sound evidence-based advice on AMR policy and programme development in the human health sector, within a One Health framework
AMR Surveillance Fellowship – Human Health at Medical Services Administration
- To produce scientifically robust evidence of AMR patterns and risk factors in human bacterial infections from AMR and AMU surveillance data
- To interpret this together with evidence from other sectors to inform future surveillance priorities
- To inform policies or actions to reduce AMR in Vietnam
- To contribute to the sustainability of the AMR surveillance programme in Vietnam by developing training expertise and implementing training programmes
AMR Advisory Fellowship – Animal Health at Veterinary Drug Management Division
- To strengthen capability to critically review evidence and advise on policies and programmes on AMR/AMC/AMU in the context of up-to-date information generated through surveillance and research
- To develop leadership in AMR epidemiology and provision of sound evidence-based advice on AMR policy and programme development in the animal health sector, within a One Health framework
AMR Surveillance Fellowship – Animal Health at National Centre for Veterinary Hygiene and Inspection No. 1
- To produce scientifically robust evidence of AMR patterns and risk factors in animals from AMR and AMU surveillance data
- To interpret this together with evidence from other sectors to inform future surveillance priorities
- To inform policies or programmes to reduce AMR in Vietnam
- To contribute to the sustainability of the AMR surveillance programme in Vietnam by developing training expertise and implementing training programmes
AMR Laboratory Fellowship – Animal Health at National Centre for Veterinary Hygiene and Inspection No. 1
- Implementing advanced AMR diagnostic methods and laboratory quality management systems
- Maintaining an AMR database and inventoried bio-repository of isolates from veterinary surveillance laboratories and ensuring these are appropriately used
- Facilitating sharing of materials used for quality control (e.g. ATCC strains, antibiotic disks, SOPs, bench guidelines), and training and mentoring activities between laboratories
- Contributing to the sustainability of quality laboratory and diagnostic systems by developing training expertise and implementing training programmes that support AMR diagnosis and surveillance in Vietnam
